They are among the greatest songwriters of the 20th century, their hits propelled the careers of Dionne Warwick, the Carpenters, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, and so many others. The class will employ music videos to help provide the histories of their most famous songs.

Jerry Gordon

JERRY GORDON was the founder of Third Street Jazz, once one of the most famous jazz record stores in the world. He also founded Evidence Music, a jazz and blues record label that issued over 350 recordings, all of which he personally supervised, reissued, or produced, including the historic reissues of Sun Ra's legendary 'Saturn' recordings. He served three years as a member of the National Endowment of the Arts Recording Panel, one year as its co-chairman. Currently he is a radio host on WPRB, Princeton University, where he presents jazz, blues, rhythm and blues and pop music, and is a consultant to the recording industry.
