NEW! Open your eyes to worlds apart when you explore the work of Latin American artists and muralists. Discuss the origins of street art in Mexico and how it became a platform for the politically motivated murals made famous by Orozco, Rivera and others. Consider the vibrant Afro-Cuban culture of artists who found a way to paint, sculpt, dance and write despite government censorship. Reflect on the controversial messages conveyed in the work of such contemporary Cuban artists as Carlos Garaicoa whose installations “evoke a state of tension between utopian ideals and dilapidated reality.”
