If you are among the 1 in 5 Americans who suffer from chronic pain you know it can have a debilitating impact on your health. Discuss the new science of pain management which suggests that a person’s medical condition is not simply related to biological factors but also to emotional and social factors. Understand the difference between acute pain and chronic pain and why complex changes in the brain may explain why chronic pain develops. Learn how you can program your brain and modify other factors through meditation, mindfulness and other approaches to manage your pain and provide a pathway to improve the condition.

Asare B. Christian, MD, MPH

Dr. Christian is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician (physiatrist). Clinically, Dr. Christian enjoys pain medicine and musculoskeletal medicine. He is the previous outpatient medical director of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network in Lehigh Valley, PA, and he has an academic appointment with the University of Pennsylvania Department of PM&R. Dr. Christian earned his board certification through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is the owner and medical director of Aether Medicine in the Wayne, Mainline Philadelphia, PA area.
