Explore the connections between North Wales and Pennsylvania, the legacy that remains of industry, language, culture and faith rooted in the heritage bequeathed by those fathers and mothers. They will be seen through the eyes of a 20th century father and mother, RS Thomas &; ME Eldridge, who were industrious in their artistic output; rescuers of the Welsh language; upholders of Welsh identity and prophetic in the ministry of the Church in Wales. Each of the three 1 hour sessions will include a ‘blas’- a ‘taste’ of stories, images, poetry, and music.

Susan Fogarty

Susan Fogarty has been a pioneer throughout her life. Starting her career 45 years ago in engineering and was the first woman to qualify as a Foundry Technician at Bolton Institute in the north of England. As a business woman she adapted to changing economic circumstances in the engineering industry until she moved from England to Wales. In north Wales she started a new life and successful business in tourism. Having lived in north Wales for 25 years, she learned the language and embraced the culture. In recent years she discovered a hidden talent for reading poetry, subsequently becoming one of the founders and director of the RS Thomas & ME Eldridge Society. www.rsthomaspoetry.co.uk She directs the annual poetry & art festival in Aberdaron north Wales and co-leads RS Thomas poetry retreats in the UK and America with her partner John McEllhenney who lives in Cornwall PA.
