IN PERSON! Pastels on the Porch

Enjoy painting outdoors in the medium of soft pastels. Pastels combine the immediacy of drawing with the fluidity of painting as seen in the work of Degas and Cassatt. Develop an understanding of the basic drawing concepts and techniques of this versatile medium in creating landscape compositions, while working Plein Air on the Creutzburg Campus. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the difference between value and color, building compositions based on art principles of unity, and learning to "build up" a painting through blending techniques and layering. Class size limited to 12 students.
