Storytellers have always been fascinated by magical transformation—from human to animal, from male to female, from old to young. Stories of radical, magical change can reveal truths about our lives in ways that more realistic stories can’t, and they’re also fun to read! Author Claire Oshetsky will read from her new novel, Chouette, in which a woman unexpectedly gives birth to an owl-baby. She will also share many of her favorite, recently published books in which authors use metamorphosis and magic to tell urgent stories about our contemporary world. She hopes to send you home with a list of many new books to read, and many new authors to explore.
