In a supportive and friendly place, play together with people at all skill levels, including beginners. Learn about the basics of rhythm, chord progressions, and how to play along with classic bluegrass tunes. Also learn about jam “etiquette,” how to take breaks (solos) on songs, and what you can expect when you go to a new jam for the first time.

Alfred Poor

Alfred Poor has been making music with others since he got his first guitar in his teens. He later discovered bluegrass and migrated to the mandolin. Over the past 20 years, he’s been a member of bands in the Doylestown and Lehigh Valley areas: “Faith and Practice,” “Northbranch,” and “Willow Creek.” He has performed on stages including Musikfest in Allentown and the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association’s annual festival in Wind Gap, PA. Over the years, he has been a frequent participant at area bluegrass jams including the Radnor Medium Jam (now the Malvern Jam), the Doylestown Jam, and the highly-regarded Washington House Jam in Sellersville, PA. In the fall of 2021, he launched the Kelly Center Bluegrass Jam in Havertown.
