Hillwood Estate Museum & Gardens

NEW Marjorie Merriweather Post bought Hillwood in 1955 and transformed it into a museum to inspire and educate; endowing the country with a comprehensive collection of Russian imperial art, a distinguished 18th Century French collection, and 25 acres of serene natural woodlands and landscaped gardens, including a rose garden designed by Perry Wheeler. Enjoy roses in bloom during a docent-led tour of the gardens in the morning. Following lunch and time on your own to continue exploring, tour the mansion and its collection under the tutelage of an expert guide. Two special exhibitions are open: On Time featuring the decorative clocks in the Post collection and Interwoven: A tardition of textiles including antique pieces and works by contemporary fiber artists.
