Read selections of travel writing and writing with a strong sense of place. Many are related to Pennsylvania. The goal is to have fun, intellectually stimulating discussions each week with opportunities to share your own travel stories. Selections may include novels, non-fiction, short stories, and poetry.


Two books are needed for the class. They are Coal Run by Tawni O'Dell and Susquehanna: River of Dreams by Susan Q. Stranahan. There are multiple copies available at local libriaries. Alternatively, used copies are available online for under $35 for both. Post Covid-19 note:

Paul Kelley

Paul Kelley was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs, but was taken on family vacations all over the Northeast and the Midwest, which is where he spent twenty-three years before returning east in 2007. He has bachelor’s and graduate degrees in geography and a college minor in English. Paul has been teaching popular lifelong learning courses in the area for twelve years.
