Churchill, a philo-Semite, saw the Jews and Zionism through different lenses. In a country and an era where Zionism had few friends, Churchill understood the need of the Jewish People to have a state of their own and why it needed to be in Palestine. Britain played a conflicted role in the founding of the State of Israel and it might not have happened if it were not for Churchill. He also saw Zionism as a counter to Communism.
