Generally regarded as a weak, ineffectual president, but having a towering, post-president impact on health and disease-extermination programs in developing countries, Carter's presidential record stands out under competent, critical biographers analyses (i.e, Kai Bird, Jonathan Alter) as "exceptionally consequential" and "exceptionally productive," nationally and internationally. His record in government deregulation, social legislation, foreign policy, international trade, U.S. strategic military defense support this revisionist view.

As a member of President Carter's White House Staff and holding the rewarding position as a White House Fellow during his presidency, I was a key staff contributor on Presidential Task Forces on programmatic legislation on government deregulation, S.A.L.T II Treaty, Federal Reserve/International Banking Act of 1978, Humphrey-Hawkins Full Employment Act of 1978, Trade Agreement Act of 1979, and groundwork for the comprehensive Depository Institutions Deregulatory and Monetary Control Act of 1980. My extensive and diversified experience, pre- and post- White House service provided a unique prism of understanding of government's impact on the institutions comprising the U.S. and international economies; service included positions of authority in domestic and international corporate banking, institutional investment management, mutual fund boards, Fortune 500 corporate boards, university Trustee boards, not-for-profit boards, and CFO for higher-ed institutions, C-Suite positions in energy companies.
