Scott Ellsworth
Scott Ellsworth is an award-winning writer and historian. The author of five books, The Secret Game was a New York Times best seller and The Ground Breaking was longlisted for both the National Book Award and the Carnegie Medal. Scott has written about American life and history for the New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. Formerly a historian at the Smithsonian Institution, he’s taught at the University of Michigan since 2007. Described by Booklist as “a historian with the soul of a poet,” he’s appeared on the TODAY Show, PBS’s The American Experience, National Public Radio, Fox, CNN, and the BBC. His newest book is Midnight on the Potomac: The Last Year of the Civil War, the Lincoln Assassination, and the Rebirth of America.
