Sean Yom
Sean Yom is a specialist on states and governance in the Middle East. His research explores the dynamics of authoritarian politics, democratic reforms, and economic development in these countries, as well as their implications for US foreign policy. His past publications include the books From Resilience to Revolution: How Foreign Interventions Destabilize the Middle East (Columbia University Press, 2015/2016) and Jordan: Politics in an Accidental Crucible (Oxford University Press, 2025), as well as various essays in academic journals like Journal of Democracy and popular outlets like The Washington Post. He sits on the editorial board of the International Journal of Middle East Studies and the editorial committee of Middle East Report.
