Japanese Tea in Fairmount Park

Relax in the serenity of this traditional style Japanese house and garden. After a guided tour of Shofuso, enjoy a presentation on the Japanese tea ceremony. Hear a brief history of tea in Japan, taste a traditional sweet and make a bowl of matcha green tea. After, explore on your own the beautiful garden landscape including Japanese Cherry trees. Please note the walking/standing scale for this tour is 2 feet which means Moderate Walking and Some Standing. Because Shofuso reflects conditions of seventeenth-century Japan, it is not accessible to wheelchairs or scooters. Shofuso is not easily accessible to users of walkers, canes, or prosthetics, and such devices may require a soft protective covering to preserve our historic flooring.
