Often the only link we have to people from long ago times and faraway places is the art they made. Paintings, textiles, baskets, pots and even designs on the human body were not only aesthetic objects but they played a wider role in people's lives through beliefs and rituals. Come explore beautiful artifacts and artworks from the long history of this most enduring human activity. Examine how ancient creativity, the love of beauty and the influence of the artist in aspects of the wider society still resonate in the modern world today.
