Almost 200 years after the Brothers Grimm published their "Household Tales" (in 1812), the ABC TV network launched its blockbuster series Once Upon A Time (7 seasons, 2011 to 2018), based on traditional European folklore as well as legends from Chinese, Arabic, and other cultures. But there's a twist! Somehow, most of the characters have ended up in modern-day America, with no memory of their fairy tale heritage. Examine the varied backgrounds of the show's fairies, witches, pirates, princes, and princesses, and explore its enduring popularity today, with sold-out fan events both online and in person.
