Discuss the rise of Mao Zedong as a political leader and learn about the social, political and economic factors which led to the founding of the People's Republic. Find out why Maoism still resonates in China today as the country grapples with widening social inequality. Class serves as an introduction to a more in-depth course which will be offered in the fall.
