Suetonius was a Roman historian who published his famous book, Lives of the Twelve Caesars, in 121 CE during the time of the Emperor Hadrian. This book, which inspired Robert Graves to write his Claudius books, tells of the lives of Julius Caesar and the 11 Emperors who followed him. Full of all kinds of unverifiable gossip, The Twelve Caesars is entertaining and provides great insight into the world of ancient Rome.
