NEW Globally influenced and culturally diverse, contemporary artists have challenged ideas of how art is defined. Drawing on a variety of materials, sources and styles they continue to be in a unique position to express themselves and respond to social issues in ways that artists of the past were unable to do. In an exploration of art movements after 1945, this survey will include Existential Art (Giacometti), Abstract Expressionism (de Kooning, Pollock), Pop Art (Warhol), Neo-Pop Art (Koons), Earth Art (Christo) and other movements and artists. Essential elements of each school will be discussed including their differing perspectives on the concept of what constitutes art.
Fee: $82.00
