Jeffrey Urbin

Jeffrey Urbin is the Education Specialist and Director of the Pare Lorentz Film Center. He is responsible for developing all of the Library’s on-site and online education programs and materials for students ranging from second grade to college including adult learning and public programs. His work with the Pare Lorentz Center has produced hundreds of hours of award winning video programs and materials used in classrooms across the country and around the world. He is the recipient of the 2023 Archivist’s Award for Excellence in Leadership in Advancing Education Programs, Distance Learning and Fostering New Learning Environments for Diverse Audiences. In June he will receive the Dutchess County Hayden Award for Excellence in Education. He has been instrumental in creating the curriculum for the new National Archives National Civic Education Initiative, and the development of disability and accessibility programs and curriculum. Prior to joining the National Archives in 2001, he taught history and government for public and private colleges in the Hudson Valley for 10 years. He earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration and a BA in Political Science and International Affairs as a Truman Scholar and studied education and Latin American and Caribbean Affairs.
