Explore the life and work of David Rittenhouse, Colonial and early Federal America’s most famous scientist and clockmaker. Consider his personal life and scientific, as well as astronomical achievements, the latter of which brought him not only national but international fame. Special emphasis will be given to the clocks he fashioned that range from typical to extraordinary.

Donald L. Fennimore retired from the Winterthur Museum, Library and Garden after serving 34 years in the curatorial department, where he was responsible for the metals collections. Since retiring, he has devoted his time to researching and writing (as a coauthor) several books on early American clockmakers.
