Focus on the best jazz musicians at a particular instrument in jazz--tenor saxophone, trumpet, piano, bass, drums, alto saxophone, clarinet, flute, vibraphone, and miscellaneous. The music and history of these giants of their instruments will be presented, two instruments covered per class. Each session will feature plenty of the classic songs and videos of these artists, mostly in performance.

Jerry Gordon

JERRY GORDON was the founder of Third Street Jazz, once one of the most famous jazz record stores in the world. He also founded Evidence Music, a jazz and blues record label that issued over 350 recordings, all of which he personally supervised, reissued, or produced, including the historic reissues of Sun Ra's legendary 'Saturn' recordings. He served three years as a member of the National Endowment of the Arts Recording Panel, one year as its co-chairman. Currently he is a radio host on WPRB, Princeton University, where he presents jazz, blues, rhythm and blues and pop music, and is a consultant to the recording industry.
