Examine the characteristics of great fiction and discover why our favorite stories are so appealing to us. Each week, a different topic will be discussed, such as dialogue, point of view, character development, etc., and writing prompts will be given to further explore each topic. We'll also spend time reading one another's creative writing and offering feedback to interested students on their own short stories, novel excerpts or flash fiction pieces during each class.

Maria Ceferatti is an MFA candidate at Rosemont College. She teaches writing with the Young Writers' Day Program. Her work has been published in Apiary Magazine, Driftwood Press, Minerva Rising, Schuylkill Valley Journal and Philadelphia Stories.
