Dialogue must convey the story, deepen characterization, advance the plot, and create dramatic tension. Through examples and exercises, participants will learn to write natural-sounding dialogue that serves more than one purpose. Participants will also learn the difference between direct and indirect dialogue, and when to use each. Most of all, participants will learn to infuse their dialogue with conflict and subtext, creating page-turning stories.
