Staff Paws & Affection

Laura O’Kane took her business management background and parlayed it into founding and leading the team at Paws and Affection for the past 12 years. As the Executive Director of the organization, she leads her team of both dogs and people to success. She enjoys building relationships with dogs, staff, fosters, volunteers, recipients, donors, and the community and believes in a team atmosphere with open communication. Laura has a B.S. in Management from Virginia Tech along with 10 years of management experience prior to taking on the role of leading Paws and Affection since 2013. During her time in this role, she has found the most effective approach to successfully working with both humans and dogs is to understand what they need and show them what we need. Working as a team, using body language and tone of voice, has proven effective in cultivating ones' ability to think, resutling in high self-confidence, low anxiety, and strong problem solving skills. www.pawsandaffection.org
