Award-winning novelist Juska discusses the creative process behind two of her novels: New York Times Editors' Choice Reunion, about three friends returning to a pandemic-delayed 25th college reunion in Maine, and The Blessings, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection about a close extended family in Philadelphia. Enjoy brief readings and insights about the crafting of both novels, the inspiration behind their stories, and the nature of the writing life.

Elise Juska

Elise Juska's novel Reunion, recently released in paperback from HarperCollins, was named a New York Times Editors' Choice and one of People Magazine's Best New Books. Her previous novels include If We Had Known and The Blessings, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers series pick and one of the Philadelphia Inquirer's best books of the year. Juska’s short fiction and nonfiction have appeared in numerous outlets including The Gettysburg Review, The Missouri Review, Good Housekeeping, The Hudson Review, Harvard Review, Ploughshares, and many others. She is the recipient of the Alice Hoffman Prize, and her short fiction has been cited by The Best American Short Stories and Pushcart Prize anthologies. Juska has taught undergraduate fiction writing at Bryn Mawr College and The New School and was founding director of the undergraduate creative writing program at the University of the Arts, where she received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching.
