He stood alone as both composer and wordsmith. Stephen Sondheim was the last and perhaps greatest master of American musical theater. Each show was uniquely different from all others. His ‘concept’ musicals, Company and Follies, were revolutionary and captivating. Led by Maestro Middleman, look at the life, times and intense magic of this great master. Spectacular video excerpts feature Into the Woods, A Little Night Music and much more.

Karl Middleman

As both a conductor and educator, Karl Middleman's presentations have been hailed for the easy way they mix scholarship with showmanship. Karl has lectured for the Philadelphia Orchestra over 50 times and has received many awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He has taught at Temple University and at Pendle Hill Learning Center. Karl has taught courses for many years at MLSN.
