Philadelphia was a key American musical center in the years before and after the Revolutionary War. From concerts and musical theater to formal dances and singing in taverns, the city supported a vibrant musical culture. Much of this activity was suspended during the war years, but a rich musical life emerged again after the war. This period comes to life in a combination of lecture, archival images, and audio clips.
