Madeleine Bell

Madeline Bell is the President and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), one of the top-ranked children’s hospitals in the United States. A bold and visionary leader, Ms. Bell champions change with empathy and integrity, inspiring the nearly 20,000 employees in the hospital’s $3-billion-a-year health system and research institute to create breakthroughs that have worldwide impact. Ms. Bell began her career as a pediatric nurse at CHOP in 1983, later leaving the organization to move into hospital administration. She returned to CHOP in 1995, and has since held a number of leadership positions, advancing from Vice President to Senior Vice President to Executive Vice President to Chief Operating Officer. In 2015, she assumed the title of President and CEO. Ms. Bell has made numerous contributions to CHOP, including the development of one of the largest pediatric ambulatory care networks in the country, the expansion of the hospital’s 4-million-square-foot campus, and the development of many nationally recognized clinical care programs. She has also secured many philanthropic gifts to help further the institution’s mission. Ms. Bell serves on the Board of Directors for Comcast-NBCUniversal, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee, the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and Solutions for Patient Safety. She is a member of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and of The Economic Club of New York. She is also an adviser to numerous international hospitals and frequently lectures on the topics of children’s healthcare and women in leadership. In 2017, she received The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Industry Icon Award, and she was named one of Modern Healthcare’s “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” in 2017 and 2018 and one of its “Top 25 Women Leaders” in 2019. She was also included on WomenInc.’s 2018 list of “Most Influential Corporate Directors.” Ms. Bell is the author of the blog Heels of Success (, which offers guidance to women on how to elevate themselves in the workplace, and the host of Breaking Through with Madeline Bell, a podcast that features interviews with CHOP doctors and scientists, as well as philanthropists, innovators, and business and civic leaders. She holds a bachelor of science in Nursing from Villanova University and a master of science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.


Marty Grims

Marty Grims is a third generation restaurateur who has operated restaurants in Philadelphia, South Jersey, and on the Mainline of Philadelphia for over 35 years. He attended Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration graduating in 1983. Upon graduation he opened  Philadelphia’s Four Season’s Fountain Restaurant. Two years later Marty started his entrepreneurial pursuits managing La Fourchette Restaurant in Wayne, PA. Many of Marty’s restaurants have received critical acclaim from the country’s most prestigious publications ie. Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Gourmet Magazine, and many other local publications. Two years ago Marty’s daughter Sydney has joined him in business marking the fourth generation to be in the hospitality business. Juliet Goodfriend

Retired founder and President of Strategic Marketing Corporation, a global custom marketing research and consulting firm to the pharmaceutical industry, Juliet Goodfriend refocused her attention onto the community and created the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, a restored historic movie theater and film education center with over 9000 members and a year-round program of first run movies and film courses for students of all ages. Her experience inspired her to help create NELI, the nonprofit executive leadership program at Bryn Mawr College. Goodfriend has served on many local and national boards including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, Inglis Foundation, and Bryn Mawr College. She has retired as CEO of Bryn Mawr Film Institute and maintains her connection to the organization as its board chair and member of the programming staff. Among the awards she has received are the 2000 Paradigm Award from the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and being named a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania by the governor.


Gerard Sweeney

Gerard H. Sweeney has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Trustee of Brandywine since the Company’s founding in 1994. He has overseen Brandywine’s growth from 200,000 square feet with a total market capitalization of less than $5 million, to nearly 25 million square feet and a total market capitalization of approximately $5.0 billion. Under his leadership, Brandywine has grown into one of the largest, publicly-traded, full-service, integrated real estate companies in the United States, with a core focus on urban, town center, and transit–oriented development in the Philadelphia, PA, Washington, D.C., and Austin, TX markets. Mr. Sweeney has overseen more than $2.5 billion and approximately 12 million square feet of successful development to-date, with many more projects currently in the pipeline. Mr. Sweeney believes that buildings are bridges to the communities they serve. He is passionate about placemaking and creating thoughtful, dynamic spaces that have a positive impact on surrounding communities. Prior to 1994, Mr. Sweeney served as Vice President of LCOR, Incorporated, a real estate development firm, and Financial Vice President and General Partner of the Linpro Company (a predecessor of LCOR). Mr. Sweeney holds a BS degree in Economics from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Mr. Sweeney is Chair of the Schuylkill River Development Corporate (SRDC), the Center City District Foundation (CCDF), and the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority. He also serves on the boards of several other Philadelphia-based organizations. Additionally, Mr. Sweeny is co-founder and co-CEO of Bonomo Turkish Taffy LLC. Mr. Sweeney is also a member of the Real Estate Roundtable, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
