Honeybees are important pollinators and their role is essential to the health of our environment yet their existence is now threatened. Research studies of hive survival report 40% of hives die each year for reasons known and unknown. Without their profound contribution to our ecosystem, we may not be able to enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables or even flowers in our future. Take a look at how the colony is organized, the life cycle of honeybees, their environmental threats and what steps you can take to assist in their survival. Find out what it takes to become a backyard beekeeper.
