Ms. Vaira will review her career in the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). In each she was an Intelligence Analyst dealing with the gathering and evaluation of incoming information. Vaira will explain the difference of intelligence between the two agencies. Her experience in DIA dealt with military intelligence issues in Argentina. DEA was dedicated to investigating major drug cartels sending large amounts of drugs into the United States. Both agencies had similarities and differences in their intelligence operations.

Mary Vaira

Mary Vaira, a Wisconsin native graduated from the University of Colorado. She is a fluent Spanish speaker educated both in Spain and Mexico. After graduation, she served three years with the Defense Intelligence in Argentina. She returned to the US and then transferred to the Drug Enforcement Administration in Chicago. She completed her career in Philadelphia as both an analyst followed by her role as the Public Information Officer. After her government career she started El Sol Villas, a company that rented holiday villas in Spain. She owned this company for 18 years.
