The Book of Esther is a short story of life in Persia in the time of the Persian empire. It is a story that deals with issues such as feminism, assimilation, life in exile and political intrigue. We will look at the historical issues in the book. We will discuss the question of why God is not a character. We will conclude with a question of the message of the book.
