In colonial America, white feminists believed liberation was possible because they knew many women from the Iroquois nation, whose culture gave them far more power and influence than any white women had at that time. Discusses how Iroquois women in the 1700s selected local chiefs, managed farming and village life and inspired white feminists to write the classic documents that fuel the struggle for women's rights today.
