Begin with a brief review of pre-clinical medicine, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and pathology. Cover studies of Alaskan and Egyptian mummies, the Iceman and the impact of DNA research. Each lecture concludes with class discussion.

Michael Zimmerman
Michael R. Zimmerman, MD, PhD is a retired anthropologist and pathologist. His research is in mummy paleopathology. He was Adjunct Professor of Biology at Villanova University and Consulting Scholar in the UK at the University of Manchester’s KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology. He is a Consulting Scholar at the Penn Museum and was a faculty member of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania for 45 years. He has taught courses in Paleopathology, History of Disease, Medical Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology and Egyptian Mummies and Modern Science.
