A decade after the Impressionists used en plein air painting to challenge the accepted way of presenting imagery, a small group of innovative artists focused on the sights along the Seine River to experiment with new ways of painting the sunlight, water and brilliant colors of the village, factories, barges, gardens and bridges they encountered. See how the work of van Gogh, Seurat, Signac and others gave rise to bold innovations in imagery and perceptions and to the understanding of the power of place.
